Newly Engaged

I’d love to hear from any couples who got engaged at Christmas or New Year. It’s such a romantic time of year and the perfect time to pop the question.

Did he ask your Dad?

Did he surprise you by getting down on one knee at the Christmas dinner?

Was it everything you had dreamed about or a total surprise?

There will be a prize of a boudoir session at my beautiful new studio for the best proposal story so tell all your friends to add theirs.

If you are still looking for that perfect engagement ring then why not try Lorraine Law or Walkers The Jewellers

HI Ally,

I spoke to you yesterday at the wedding exhibition in the West Park. Muself and Sandy got engaged in November 2009.

It happened as follows:- We had been at my beat friends wedding on 31 October 2009 and when sitting we were sitting at the meal one of my other friends as Sandy if he would ever get married and his answer was NO as he was happy the way things were. Then on Sunday 15 November 2009 Sandy said to me he was away to see my dad and that he would not be long, sure enough he was way for 20 mins or so and hen asked what he was away to see my dad about he then asked if I would marry him, well you could have knocked me over with a feather but I answered YES very quickly incase he had a change of heart. We are thinking August 2011 and in the mids of getting information and the most important thing PRICES as we are paying for it ourselves.

Hope you like the above and look forward to hearing from you to let me know that you have choosen my story??

Thanks Lisa

Hi Ally,

My boyfriend proposed to me on Hogmanay…I think I am still in shock. We are already booking our big day for 2011 and I am currently looking for a great photographer and love your pics. Here is how Andy proposed…

We had travelled down to Newcastle to get away for New Year on our own as Andy had been home in Northern Ireland while I was home in Forfar with my family.

We arrived late afternoon and went for a walk in Newcastle, talking about everything we had done in 2009 – moved house, new job, become auntie and uncle to beautiful baby eve, visited some amazing places…and andy turns to me and says there is one thing that hasn’t happened in 2009…I was totally oblivious. A couple of hours later Andy got down on one knee and asked me to marry him opening with remember how I mentioned there was one thing that hadn’t happened this year… I was so shocked I couldn’t believe it but immediately said yes. Later to find out that Andy had been hiding the ring in various places throughout the afternoon/evening and had a bottle of champagne waiting behind the curtains.

Unbeknown too me Andy had spoken to my Mum and Dad before Christmas about the proposal and asked for their blessing. I was totally and utterly shocked my Mum and Dad hadn’t told anyone and managed to keep the big secret over Christmas. It wasn’t all plain sailing when my Dad joked with him asking him what he would do if he said no…he knew really though that Mum and Dad would be nothing other than chuffed.

After 4 years together we are now going to be husband and wife. So so so excited about our big day which we have decided is going to be in June 2011. Can’t wait to capture all the memories with some beautiful snaps.
