Elaine walked down the aisle to the sound of The Beatles played on the harp. It was a very lovely choice of song and her Father looked terribly proud as he walked her down the aisle  to Steven.

After the ceremony everyone was able to have the drinks reception outside and enjoy the mild weather.

Leza and Steven wanted a very relaxed wedding that their friends, family and children could enjoy. The Glenfinnan Hotel was the perfect setting and the church nearby is very picturesque.

The Atholl Palace is a stunning setting with a fairytale like quality. Louise looked stunning in her wedding gown, like a medieval princess.

I think Fasque suited Heather and Alan so well. they are a very relaxed couple who just wanted to have great time with their family and friends on their wedding day. They didn’t stick to tradition, which is always refreshing, Heather and Alan joined their guests for lunch before the ceremony so as they had a chance to catch up with friends and relatives before the formal proceedings.

Fasque has a beautiful staircase down to the main hall so brides can really make an entrance, Heather was walked down to a beaming Alan by her very proud Father. Her sister doubled as pianist and bridesmaid!

After the ceremony we took some photographs and were entertained by a falconry display.

It was a fabulous wedding and I loved every minute of it

The guests were then treated to a wonderfully relaxed reception in The Old Course Hotel, again in St Andrews.  Their friends and family chatted, hugged, tasted canapes and sipped champagne while admiring the view from the top floor of the famous hotel. It was rather wet and windy outside but Amelia smiled and coped beautifully with a few puddles on the way into the church before John escorted her down the aisle.

They were married this summer and they asked me to be their wedding photographer. It was a wonderful wedding in every way.

Janice and Scott have been kind enough to share some of their wedding plans with me, so I hope you enjoy reading about their day

Where did your wedding take place?

Our wedding service was at Carnoustie Church with the reception at the Invercarse Hotel, Dundee

What was your colour scheme or wedding theme?

We loved the teal colour of the Royal Windsor wedding car we had chosen and this set the colour theme for the day with added accents of red and white. Our bridesmaids dresses, flowers, stationary, kilts, cake etc tied this all together perfectly..

Having met working together in a bar we wanted to have a theme which meant something to us both and we thought to what brought us together therefore we chose a cocktail theme. The top two tiers of our cake was seperated with cocktail glasses, our table centre pieces were large martini glasses, our favours were heart shaped bottle stoppers, our guests were greeted with a choice of drinks including a fruit cocktail and all of our tables were named after different cocktails with the top table being ‘Cocktails and Dreams’ from the fabulous Tom Cruise film.

A slight 80s theme also ran thorugh the wedding starting with an 80s themed hen weekend in Liverpool where we dressed up in neon, danced to 80s tunes and learnt the dance routine from Dirty Dancing. This love for all things 80s not only named the top table but also helped to chose our first dance – Starship – Nothings Gonna Stop Us Now from the wedding scene in the 80s classic film ‘Mannequin’.

What was your dress like and why did you love it?

I bought my dress and my bridesmaids dresses from Sarah Louise Bridal in Glasgow. I must have tried on about 60 dresses and had liked the front, the back, the top or the bottom of many but none were perfect until i found ‘the one’. My dress was white with a crossover v shaped neck line with thin straps, it had quite a big skirt but wearing a hoop made it even bigger. The dress was quite simple but with a little bit of bling on the straps and on the central brooch. The dress was gathered at the waist with perfect folds in the taffeta material. The train was quite long and fabric covered buttons started at the at the back of the dress where the straps joined in the middle and went all the way to the end of the train. It looked fab during the day but the buttons were even more of a feature at night when the dress was hooked up for dancing. I wore the dress with my mums veil which she had worn 35 years ago, it was still pure white but i had it shortened to waist length.

Where did you get your shoes?

I bought my shoes online they were from the Faith bridal range and were being sold off as the company were going into administration – wee bargain and gorgeous white satin with very high jewelled heels.

Did you have wedding cars and who gave you away?

We hired our wedding cars from Chauffeurs of Carnoustie. We had the Teal Royal Windsor for ourselves and the White and Navy Badsworth Landaulette for the bridesmaids.

My lovely dad walked me down the aisle and gave me away.

Where did your groom get his kilt or morning suit from?

The groom, best men and the dads all wore the same kilt in Hebridean Heather from McCalls of Broughty Ferry. Scott wore a red shirt with silver cravat and the others wore the opposite which looked great.

Did you buy each other wedding presents?

Yes Scott bought me my wedding jewellery and I bought Scott an Armani watch – lucky boy.

Can you tell me about your wedding cake?

Our cake was from J M Bakery in Monifieth and between us, Sheila and myself came up with the design to incorporate our cocktail theme and colours, The top tier was fruit cake to satisfty the mums and the bottom two were chocolate – delicious.

What was your favourite photograph and why do you like it?

We loved all of our photographs but obviously our favourite ones are of us. It was too difficult to choose between these two

Was Ally Stuart  the right photographer for you?

Without a doubt. Ally Stuart was fantastic.

We had previously had a family portrait taken with Ally therefore knew of her work and really liked her style. We then went to discuss what we wanted and she was happy to adapt her package to suit exactly what we wanted.

From then on we had a few meetings with her including the engagement photo shoot which is a fantatstic idea. It really gets you used to the camera and how to pose both smiling and more serious and Ally gives you great tips about how to stand to look at your best.

On the day Ally was there early at the church to see all the guests and the wedding party arriving right up to the meal taking a variety of photographs. We were asked to give a list of the shots we really wanted and these were all taken care of without having to worry about remembering on the day. She was not intrusive on the day and she did not take us away from our day and made the whole experience very enjoyable. People say your face will ache from smiling so much but i dont remember this at all i just smiled anyway and enjoyed the more reportage style shots.

Ally captured the whole day especially all the details which you work so hard on to get right, once we proceeded to the line up she continued to take actions shots of the guests which are great.

The ceremony was conducted in the conservatory and afterwards we made full use of the gardens for some photographs

Denise travelled to her wedding in a white Rolls Royce . She surprised her bridesmaid Erin, by hiring a Volkswagon camper van to drive Erin to the wedding. Denise looked stunning in her wedding gown and Erin wore a vintage frock. The whole day went without a hitch and the gardens at Rufflets provided a great setting for some special wedding photographs. Graeme and his bestman, ushers and pageboy all looked great in their kilts. Their wedding cake was supplied by Scrumptious Cakes, I did’t get a taste but it looked delicious.
